CAS Recognizes Pomperaug High School Fine Arts Seniors

Daniel Koobatian and Stephanie Milite have been honored by the CT Association of Schools for excelling in performing or visual arts.

From Pomperaug School District: Daniel Koobatian and Stephanie Milite, seniors from Pomperaug High School, were recognized at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) 22 nd Annual Arts Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 4 th , 2017 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT.

The Connecticut High School Fine Arts Awards annually honors two outstanding seniors from each of the member schools in the state who excel in the performing or visual arts. Excelling in the performing or visual arts is of primary importance in the selection. Students must also possess scholarship and leadership qualities. Stephanie Milite was recognized for excelling in the visual arts. Stephanie is an exceptional artist who has excelled in Region 15 art programs throughout her educational career, including the talented and gifted art program at the elementary school, Art Enrichment in the middle school, and select Advanced Placement Art courses at Pomperaug High School. She was just recently awarded second place in Multimedia in the Brookfield Craft Center Contest “Artists on the Rise.” She is a member of the newly formed National Art Honor Society at Pomperaug High School, recognizing students’ creative talents and time spent volunteering in school related art programs. Her artwork will be featured in an exhibit at the Region’s Annual Art Show. She will be attending Lyme Academy College of Fine Art in Lyme, Connecticut in the Fall, 2017.

Daniel Koobatian was recognized for excelling in the performing arts. Daniel is an outstanding music student who has been a member of Concert Choir, Chorale, and Chamber Singers throughout his four years at PHS. He is a section leader for the bass section in Chorale as well as the Treasurer of the TRI-M Music Honor Society. For the past four years, Daniel has been selected to participate in the Southern Region CMEA Music Festival after completing an audition process and to participate in the CMEA All-State Festival for the past three years, which includes high schools from the entire state.

Daniel was selected to perform at the National Association for Music Education All- Nationals events during both his junior and senior years, following auditions to participate. He will be attending Hamilton College in Clinton, New York in the Fall, 2017.
