A Poetic and Unflinching Portrait of a Literary Icon’s Final Hours
Woodbury, CT — Community Theatre at Woodbury proudly announces the opening production of its 12th season, Hemingway’s Promise, an intimate and haunting staged reading of a new drama by the late B.L. Walker, a beloved local playwright. The performances will be held on October 17, 18, and 19 at the historic Woodbury Old Town Hall, 5 Mountain Road, Woodbury, CT.

Set in the quiet isolation of Hemingway’s Idaho home, the play unravels the fragile boundaries between reality and memory as the iconic writer confronts the ghosts of his past—lovers, friends, and family—each seeking absolution, confrontation, or farewell. Raw, poetic, and unrelenting, Hemingway’s Promise dares to stare into the heart of a man facing the edge, offering audiences a profound meditation on legacy, regret, and the shadows we all carry.
“This production is deeply human, unafraid to explore both the beauty and the torment of Hemingway’s life,” says Director Sarah Robards. “It’s a play that lingers long after the curtain falls.”
