I-84 In Middlebury Reopened After Tractor Trailer Crash

State: Overturned Truck Cleared, Some Backups Still Occurring.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — State Department of Transportation Officials have announced that Interstate 84 in Middlebury has been reopened after a tractor trailer crash site was cleared.

The eastbound lane on Interstate 84 in Middlebury was closed after a tractor trailer overturned, according to the state Department of Transportation.

A 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, the DOT reported the site was cleared at I-84 in Middlebury at Exit 17.

The area closed was between exits 17 and 18, according to the DOT, with traffic backed up for about 4.9 miles between exits 16 and 17.

The DOT initially reported the crash as 9:15 a.m., with the accident happening at about 8:59 a.m. Tuesday.

The state did not have a timetable at first as to when the highway would be reopened, but the road was shut down for about an hour.
