Popular Farm-To-Table Restaurant Closes In Woodbury
After more than 30 years in business, a Woodbury restaurant is closing. However, a new owner has plans to bring it back.
WOODBURY, CT — Good News Restaurant and Bar in Woodbury has closed after 30 years in business, Hearst Connecticut Media reported.
However, Michael Hayek, a Danbury restaurateur, is the new owner of the business. He plans to reopen Good News under the same name, according to The Waterbury Republican-American.
Hayek, who owns Craft and Square One restaurants in Danbury and Bottega in Bethel, said he plans to bring the whole staff back.

A description of Good News on its Facebook page calls it "a hip, upbeat and friendly restaurant with our focus on food." The restaurant used organic food from local farms "whenever possible."
Woodbury was recently named the state's most charming small town by Reader's Digest in part because of Good News. The publication gave a nod to the farm-to-table restaurant in its write-up.

Good News recently auctioned off its furniture, radios, plates, and more.
"We’ve been so blessed to have such an amazing Good News family for so many years," Good News posted.
Its last day of service was March 31.
Owner Carole Peck operated the restaurant since 1992 with her husband, Bernard Jarrier-Cabernet, according to Hearst Connecticut. Good News has served a range of celebrity guests like Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
