Proposed Distribution Center In Middlebury Sparks Controversy: Report

A proposed new distribution center on a 111-acre site is drawing criticism from residents.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — A proposed new project in Middlebury is the subject of controversy, according to a WTNH News-8 report. A construction plan for a 111-acre site on Christian Road calls for building a 720,000-square-foot distribution center.

Supporters say the project by JSD Partners would provide tax revenues, but opponents are concerned about traffic, losing the town's rural character, and damage to wetland areas.

The town's Planning and Zoning Board will be reviewing all these issues as they are considering whether the property's industrial zone should be changed.
