Serious Wreck Closes Down I-84 In Middlebury
Firefighters had to extricate a person from a vehicle following a crash on I-84 Monday night.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — A person was hospitalized following a serious crash Monday between I-84 in Middlebury, The New Haven Register reported. Fire officials responded to a report of the 8 p.m. crash involving a tractor trailer.
A Ford Transit T-150 was traveling behind a tractor trailer near exit 16. The Ford hit the rear of the tractor trailer, causing both vehicles to go into the median, according to state police.
Firefighters completed an "extended extrication" to remove the injured person from the Ford, according to The New Haven Register. The injured person was transported to Waterbury Hospital for treatment of serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.

Westbound traffic on I-84 was shut down due to the wreck for several hours.
