Small Business Spotlight: Woodbury Connecticut's Premier Homecare Agency

Our small business series shines a light on local business owners in the community.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. And that’s the belief behind this exciting series — to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

How did you come up with name?

I wanted a name that was warm and inviting, but was also a reflection of our services

What business are you In?

I actually opened originally in Naugatuck in 2008. After moving to Woodbury in 2010, I decided that i wanted to focus more on servicing the elderly in my community, although we are based in Woodbury. We serve our clients anywhere in CT.

Why start a business in this town?

We provide private duty non-medical in-home care services to the elderly and disabled on a live-in and hourly basis.

What is the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

The most difficult challenge is getting our name out there and letting people know that we are here and our services are available to them. there is a big need for home care today, but a lot of competition as well. and when you are small, you don’t have the budget for big advertising such as commercials, so we rely alot on word of mouth and direct referrals.

What has been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

Our proudest achievement since opening is looking back and seeing how many jobs we have created over the years. a lot of our caregivers are moms with children or people who have lost jobs and are entering the health care field for a new start and we have been thanked many times over by people who we have found the experience rewarding on many levels.

How does your business give back to the community?

This year we are working with NVCC to contribute to a scholarship fund in Memory of my late grandmother Debra Ash, she was a life long caregiver and was the inspiration for me going into this business. the scholarship will go to a student enrolled in the CNA Program at NVCC. Our caregivers are selling cookies VIA a fund raiser to help raise as much as possible.
