Woodbury Firefighters Train with New Tank Truck
Vehicle Delivered at End of June with $450,00 Pricetag
WOODBURY CT July 8th, 2025 – Woodbury Volunteer Firefighters lined up recently to train with the updated devices and connections on the department’s new $450,000 tank truck. The new vehicle was ordered four years ago with delivery only at the very end of June 2025. “It was about $15,000 over budget,” says Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan, “but we were braced for it. Raw material prices shot up during delays caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, and we were committed to covering them.”
The new International truck replaces a 1995 Ford tanktruck that will be sold onward. Lampart says, “There’s a five year delay backlog in getting a new truck. Smaller departments will pay a lot to get a used truck right away and in good shape like this one.” In fact the department’s six fire officers have each put up a five-dollar bill in a private pool betting how much the town will receive in a sale. Lampart took the high ground with a bet that the 30-year-old truck will sell for $100,000 at retail. ###
