$100M Renovation to the Historic Watergate Hotel
The hotel should reopen in the summer of 2015.
The Watergate Hotel, where a low-level break-in began the unraveling of Richard Nixon’s presidency, is getting a $100M facelift.
The renovation to The Watergate will increase the number of rooms, add restaurants, and improve existing areas.
Grunley Construction Co. will gut the 13 floors of the 277,000-square-foot building, according to the Washington Business Journal. The number of rooms will increase from 251 to 348. Two restaurants, one with a terrace and rooftop bar, will be added. The plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems will be updated as well.
