'The 12 Tapes of Christmas' Showcases Original Holiday Movie Recordings

'Frosty the Snowman' and 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!' are among those featured at a D.C. restaurant.

If the Georgetown storefront holiday displays or National Zoo’s light exhibit don’t get you in the holiday spirit, The 12 Tapes of Christmas is sure to do the trick.

PLAYBACKTHETAPE will show 12 holiday movies that were taped from the TV airings in the 1980s and early 90s. The eight hours worth of tapes feature the original commercials and news clips. Half of the movies will be shown 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and the other six at the same time Dec. 18.

The public is welcome to the free kid-friendly event at Mellow Mushroom, 2436 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan.
