About 1600 pounds of deer meat was donated to feed the homeless in D.C.
The National Park Service recently organized a deer hunt in Rock Creek and 55 white-tailed deer were killed in November and December, according to NBC Washington. The overpopulation of deer in the park makes it very difficult for new plants and trees to grow in the area.
Animal-rights activists filed a lawsuit because of the deer killings which delayed the hunt, NBC Washington reports.

The meat was given to D.C. Central Kitchen on Tuesday and will be used to make venison chili and Bolognese sauce.
