28th Annual Lombardi Gala for Georgetown Cancer Center
ESPN SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott and Samuel Foster Jr. will receive awards at the gala Oct. 18.

A black-tie celebration will be held to benefit Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The 28th Annual Lombardi Gala will be hosted at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Avenue NW, 6 to 11:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
In addition to dinner and dancing, the gala will include a cocktail reception and silent auction of donated items, including a Pink Floyd signed guitar. There will be a raffle for a 2015 Lexus IS 350 F Sport as well. One-hundred percent of proceeds will go to Georgetown Lombardi for cancer research and $21 million has been raised through the annual event to date.

ESPN SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer in 2007 and will receive the NFL Players Association Georgetown Lombardi Award at the gala. President and CEO of FosterSoft, Inc. Samuel Foster Jr. will receive the Margaret L. Hodges Leadership Award.
“It is impossible to overstate the importance of advocates such as Sam,” Director of Georgetown Lombardi Louis M. Weiner, MD said. “As a long time member of the Gala’s corporate executive committee and as a sponsor, Sam has matched words with actions and been a tremendous supporter of Georgetown Lombardi. His contributions have made a difference.”

The NFL Players Association Georgetown Lombardi Award was named after NFL coach Vince Lombardi was treated for cancer at Georgetown University Hospital and lost his fight to in 1970. The NFL Players Association teamed up with Georgetown Lombardi to honor a leader in the sports industry who has been affected by cancer and encourages research and awareness.
