Some people should avoid activities outside on Monday due to the air quality, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments warns.

WASHINGTON, DC — Sensitive groups should avoid strenuous activity or exercise outside on Monday, Feb. 4, according to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, which has issued a code orange air quality alert. The alert means pollution concentrations could be unhealthy for certain individuals.

Those considered sensitive groups are children, the elderly and those with asthma, heart disease or lung disease.

Fine particle pollution is expected along the I-95 corridor on Monday, with the highest concentrations expected in the downtown areas of Washington DC and Baltimore. Cleaner conditions are expected behind a cold front arriving Tuesday.
