Christmas 2014: What's Open and Closed in D.C. and Georgetown
Don't worry, we made the list and checked it twice for city buildings, Metrorail, and other schedules for Dec. 25.

Turn on the yule log, grab some hot chocolate, and don’t skimp on the whipped cream because Christmas is almost here!
Georgetown businesses and services will operate on alternative schedules in recognition of the holiday.
Christmas Eve is Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, and Christmas Day is Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014.

City Offices:
- Christmas Eve: Regular hours
- Christmas Day: CLOSED (and Dec. 26)
Metro Service:

- Christmas Eve: Regular weekday service; system will operate 5 a.m. to midnight
- Christmas Day: Rail and bus will operate on Sunday schedules, system will operate 7 a.m. to midnight
Trash & Recycling:
- Christmas Eve: Regular Wednesday schedule
- Christmas Day: NO COLLECTION (Thursday schedule will move to Friday and Friday schedule will move to Saturday)
Leaf Collection:
- Christmas Eve: Regular pickup for most “Area B” neighborhoods
- Christmas Day: NO COLLECTION
Parking Enforcement:
- Christmas Eve: Regular regulations
- Christmas Day: Parking meters, residential parking, and rush hour lane restrictions will not be enforced Dec. 25 or 26
“Blocked” Streetcar Parking Enforcement: H Street and Benning Road NE between 3rd Street and Oklahoma Avenue NE
- Christmas Eve: Regular schedule; 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Christmas Day: Holiday schedule; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Smithsonian Institution:
- Christmas Eve: Regular hours; 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Christmas Day: CLOSED
National Zoo:
- Christmas Eve: Regular hours; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Christmas Day: CLOSED
