Coast Guard Saves Woman From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning On Boat

Coast Guard crew members revived a woman who passed out from carbon monoxide poisoning on a boat near the Georgetown waterfront.

GEORGETOWN, DC — A woman passed out from carbon monoxide poisoning on a boat near the Georgetown waterfront Sunday evening, according to a statement from the Coast Guard.

A man called the Coast Guard at about 5:30 p.m. and said he and a woman were suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning on a 40-foot boat.

Station Washington crew members arrived on the scene, took the unconscious woman out of the cabin and transferred her to the Coast Guard boat.

A crew member began CPR while in route to the Georgetown waterfront, and the woman regained consciousness shortly after, the statement said.

Both passengers were taken to the waterfront, where they were met by EMS and taken to George Washington University Hospital.

"It feels great knowing that I possibly saved a persons life," Petty Officer 2nd Class Chris Page, boarding officer, who performed the CPR, said. "My training just kicked in automatically, and I am happy I could help."
