D.C. Drivers: Second-Rudest in the Country

A survey places D.C. as having the second-rudest drivers.

D.C. is ranked as having the second-rudest drivers, only beaten by Idaho.

A nationwide survey by Insure.com, asked 2,000 drivers to rank the rudest drivers.

The survey indicated that D.C. drivers are self-serving and do not use their turn signals.

Former L.A. resident, Sam Russell, moved to D.C. three years ago and told Insure, “Driving in D.C. can be compared to the recklessness of our politics: self-serving, abrasive and unsafe.”

When asked what makes them mad about other drivers, participants could select more than one answer from a list of 18. The top answers were:

  • Talking on a cellphone while driving: 47 percent
  • Tailgating: 37 percent
  • Not signaling turns: 35 percent
  • Weaving in and out of lanes: 28 percent
  • Driving too fast, like every road is a highway: 26 percent

The survey ranks Idaho drivers as number one for the rudest on the road because they take their time and drive too slow, according to Insure.com.
