Lonely Planet experts named the District the number one city to travel to next year.

D.C. brings the community together with a wide variety of events including star-studded concerts and restaurant openings, it’s no wonder that it’s the most expensive city in the nation to live in!

The District is Lonely Planet’s top city to visit in 2015. The one of a kind monuments, museums, and research centers, along with its historical value, put D.C. at the top. This is the city’s first time appearing on the list in the nine years that it has been compiled.

Lonely Planet is one of the top travel publishers and produces guidebooks on almost every destination in the world.

“Washington has always been more of a blazers-and-pearls kind of town, but in the last few years the city has experienced a rebirth of style thanks in no small part to a certain First Lady’s high-profile designer wardrobe,” Lonely Planet wrote. “Georgetown is by far DC’s most style-conscious shopping district, with its backdrop of colourful row houses, canal and cobblestones.”
