D.C. Ranks on Best City to Be a Vampire List

With cloudy days and late bar hours, the nation's capital makes the top 10.

Sink your teeth into this — D.C. doesn’t just make the list for number one destination to visit in the world or top toilet-to-people ratio, it is one of the best cities to be a vampire as well!

D.C. ranked at number six after real estate brokerage company Redfin analyzed four key components in order to determine which cities make the top 10 list.

Tales about vampires say that they do not go into sunlight, so Redfin found the cities with the highest average number of cloudy days each year. Since vampires sleep in coffins, it was researched how many homes were for sale by cemeteries in each area last year.

Finally, vampires drink a lot of human blood. So the real estate company found out how late bars and clubs serve alcohol as well as how many blood drives were happening within the next month in the cities.

  • Bar Hours: 8 a.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Number of Blood Banks and Drives: 471

“Washington went through a lot of turmoil in its early years, and there are plenty of places that are reportedly haunted as a result,” D.C. Redfin Real Estate Agent Michael Alderfer said in the report. “There are also a lot of historical homes with unique histories. It’s no surprise that eventually something like ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ would come to exist!”
