D.C. Recognized on "Great Neighborhoods" and "Great Streets" Lists
The American Planning Association ranks the top great spaces in the U.S.

A D.C. neighborhood and street have made lists for being exceptional spaces.
The American Planning Association (APA) created the Great Places in America program in 2007 to highlight unique and exemplary areas across the country.
The program recognizes three aspects of a community: streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces. D.C. areas have made the top 10 of two of the lists.

D.C.’s Pennsylvania Avenue, often called “America’s Main Street”, took the number three spot on the 2014 Great Streets list. The street is home to monuments, local government, museums, and more.
“These exemplary neighborhoods, streets and public spaces showcase the great results that come about when diverse groups of people work together to create communities with lasting value,” Anderson said.
