How Georgetown Voted on Marijuana Legalization
The marijuana initiative won over Ward 2.

With the help of Georgetown and the rest of Ward 2, marijuana is legalized in the nation’s capital.
The initiative was passed with the support of 64.62 percent of District voters, over 96,000 people, during Tuesday’s election. The results still have to be certified.
The legalization of marijuana won by a landslide in Ward 2 with 70.3 percent, just under 10,000 people.

The passing of the marijuana proposal means that anyone who is at least 21 years old can do the following in D.C.:
- Possess up to two ounces of marijuana for personal use
- Grow up to six cannabis plants with no more than three of them being mature and flowering at the person’s primary residence
- Transfer, but not sell, up to one ounce of marijuana to another person who is at least 21-years-old
- Use or sell drug paraphernalia for the use of marijuana
