Major Mistake Printed on Thousands of D.C. Voter's Guides

D.C. Board of Elections spokeswoman claims that the error was made on purpose.

The D.C. Board of Elections voter’s guide that gives residents information on the election process has an error.

Over 300,000 voter’s guides feature an upside-down D.C. flag on the first page.

“I am sorely disappointed by the mistakes printed in the 2014 General Election Voter’s Guide,” D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie said in a statement Thursday. “This is yet another example of the type of glaring mistakes that continues to occur.”

According to NBC Washington, D.C. Board of Elections spokeswoman Denise Tolliver claims that the upside-down flag was not a mistake. It was done intentionally in order to engage voters in the elections since the primary elections in April were so low.

The guides will not be reprinted.
