Metrobus Service Changes: Reroutes and Schedule Updates

In an effort to improve the Metrobus experience, changes will be made to existing routes.

Beginning on Dec. 14, schedule changes will provide faster travel times, reduce crowds, and improve time performances, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

MetroExtra Route 37 buses will make temporary stops while repairs take place at the Friendship Heights Bus terminal. Route 96 buses will make detours around the Supreme Court building as well.

More changes to different bus routes include:

5A DC-Dulles

• Schedule changes because of long-term detour at the Rosslyn Metrorail Station

37 Wisconsin Avenue

• Buses will not travel to the Friendship Heights terminal
• Northbound buses to Friendship Heights will end on Wisconsin Avenue at Western Avenue NW
• Southbound trips to Archives will star on Jenifer Street at 44th Street NW

96 East Capitol Street-Cardozo

• Buses will detour around the Supreme Court building from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
• No stops will be made at East Capitold Street & First Street SE and First Street and Maryland Avenue NE

D34 Deal Middle School

• The bus that leaves Deal Middle School at 4:30 p.m. will now leave at 4:40 p.m.

E6 Chevy Chase

• No stops will be made at bus bay C at the Friendship Heights Metrorail Station
• Board at bus bay G for Knollwood service

P6 Anacostia-Eckington

• Buses traveling between New York Avenue and 5th Street NW in both directions will operate by North Capitol Street and K Street

W2, W3 United Medical Center-Anacostia

• New schedules posted

W4 Deanwood-Alabama Avenue

• New trip added: 3:10 p.m. northbound will depart from Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenues SE on weekdays when public schools are open

W6, W8 Garfield-Anacostia

• New schedules posted

X2 Benning Road-H Street

• Buses scheduled to depart every eight minutes in both directions weekdays 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
