Pope Francis Adds D.C. to Three City U.S. Tour
His Holiness is expected to come to the District in the fall with a possible visit to the White House.

Just over a month after Prince William visited D.C., another big public figure has announced a visit to the nation’s capital.
Pope Francis revealed future travel plans during his flight from Manila, Philippines to Rome on Sunday.
The six-day trip to the U.S. will include stops in New York City and Philadelphia along with a two-day visit in the District. According to the Catholic News Agency, the details are still in the planning phase but the trip is expected to begin Sept. 23 in D.C.

The Pope will canonize Blessed Junipero Serra in the District, the CNA reports. Other proposed events include a welcoming reception at the White House, a session with Congress, a meeting with juvenile detention center youths, and a visit to a local hospital.
His Holiness is projected to join mass at Washington’s Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception during his stay, Archbishop Bernardito Auza told the Catholic News Agency.
