Sting, Paul Simon To Help Duke Ellington School Raise Money

Musicians Sting and Paul Simon will stop on tour to help the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Georgetown raise money for its planned $80 million renovation. 

The school plans to update its historic 1898 building, adding more than 100,000 square feet that will include an 850-seat theatre, a 300-seat performance hall and a 150-seat black box theatre. 

This will be the seventh benefit concert for the school spotlighting artistic legends. 

According to the Washington Post, "Sting was recruited for the series in part by Charles Augins, chair of the Duke Ellington  dance department, who happened to teach dance to a young Sting in London decades ago."

The event description says there will also be a surprise guest. 

The fundraising event will be at 8 p.m. on March 10 at the Strathmore Music Center in North Bethesda, Md. Ticket prices start at $250.
