What Should Replace Gap Kids in Georgetown?

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning—Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

Each week we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? We've written about several shuttered spaces over the past several weeks including , , , and , and . Our readers have suggested replacements ranging from florists to coffee shops.

This week, we're turning our attention to which was formerly located on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and N Street.

Meg Ryan's character in "You've Got Mail," bemoans how her small bookstore is going out of business. She says, "It's a lovely store, and in a week it'll be something really depressing, like a Baby Gap."

But this is one issue Georgetowners won't be worrying about. Our local Gap outpost geared toward kids and babies has vacated its space and been absorbed into the larger Gap store on Wisconsin Ave.

What should replace this store? Another clothing retailer? A bookstore? How about a jewelry store?
