What's Up With the Metro? Sept. 24-25

A look at what you need to know about Metro this weekend.

Planning on catching the Metro to get around this weekend? Here’s what to expect.

Metro released the following press release about planned service impacts:

Red Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

  • Red Line trains will share one track between Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square stations to allow for construction work at Farragut North station.
  • On Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Red Line trains will depart every 10 minutes from Shady Grove and Glenmont stations. Every other train from Shady Grove station will terminate at Dupont Circle. Every other train from Glenmont will terminate at Union Station.
  • At all other times during the weekend, Red Line trains will depart every 20 minutes from Shady Grove and Glenmont stations.
  • The last train departing Glenmont will leave 11 minutes earlier than usual -- at 2:26 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and at 11:26 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Customers should allow about 30 minutes of additional travel time.

Blue Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

  • Blue Line trains will share one track between Pentagon City and Arlington Cemetery as Metro conducts rail infrastructure upgrades.
  • Customers should allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Orange Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

  • Orange Line trains will share one track between Vienna and West Falls Church as crews replace cross ties and insulators.
  • Throughout the weekend, every other Orange Line train will terminate at West Falls Church and return to New Carrollton.
  • Customers should allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Green Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

  • Green Line trains will share one track between Southern Avenue and Naylor Road as crews replace rail fasteners.
  • Customers should allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.
