
Apartment List is out with its most recent Washington DC Rental Price Monitor, and there’s good news and bad news when it comes to the price of a rental in the nation’s capital.
First, the bad news: As any DC renter is acutely aware, rents in DC are high when compared to most other cities. How high? Triple the national average.
Now, for the good news (for renters, anyway): Rents have declined both over the last year and the last month. Here are some of the highlights from the Apartment List report:

- Rents in Washington DC averaged $2,880 in February, based on available 2 bedroom units. That’s triple the national average of $960.
- Renters pay the most in Downtown ($4,300), Georgetown ($3,630), and Logan Circle ($3,410).
- Across the whole DC Metro, same-unit rents declined in February. However, two-bedroom units still cost a staggering $2,250.
