1 Person Treated For Smoke Inhalation In Early Morning Fire
The fire broke out at 24 Avenue and NW 66 Street. The incident happened around 5 a.m.

MIAMI, FL — One person was treated for smoke inhalation early Wednesday when a home caught fire in Northwest Miami-Dade. The fire broke out at 24 Avenue and NW 66 Street. The incident happened around 5 a.m.
"When crews arrived, they saw this thick smoke and flames shooting out from one of the units," explained Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. "Crews began a quick attack and after a few minutes of working, they were able to quickly put the fire under control."
Local 10 News reported that charred automotive jumper cables were found at the scene and may have been used to carry electricity. "We believe there may have been electrical lines that were used improperly," a first responder told the news crew.

The person who suffered smoke inhalation was treated on the scene by Miami-Dade first responders. Benitez stressed the importance of having working smoke detectors in each home.
"MDFR continues to stress the importance of working smoke detectors, these can quickly alert you and your family giving everyone an opportunity to get out," she said. "Smoke detectors save lives."
