Broward High School Student Stabbed In Leg With Scissors

DAVIE, FL — A Broward high school student was stabbed in the leg with scissors on Friday afternoon, triggering an alert at nearby Nova Southeastern University, which reported a "dangerous situation" at the main campus. The incident was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. University officials issued the all clear less than an hour later.
"An incident happened at Nova High School, not at Nova Southeastern University," school officials said in giving the all clear shortly before 5:15 p.m.

According to Major Dale Engle of the Davie Police Department, the incident involved a stabbing at Nova High School, in which one student was believed to have stabbed another student.
"The injuries are not life threatening and one person is being detained at this time," said Engle. "The school is no longer on lockdown and there is no further threat to the school or the community."

Sgt. Mark Leone of the Davie Police Department added that the stabbing stemmed from a fight.
"Two students got into a fight and one was stabbed in the leg with a pair of scissors," he said. Leone added that the student suffered only minor injuries.
