No Evidence Of Shooting At Aventura Mall: Police

AVENTURA, FL β€” Aventura Mall was evacuated on Saturday night as police investigated reports of a shooting. Police said they were unable to find any evidence of a shooting. The last weekend before Christmas is traditionally one of the busiest shopping times of the year.

"We received reports of shots fired at Aventura Mall," Sgt. Chris Goranitis of the Aventura Police Department told Patch.

Aventura police asked people to avoid the area on Saturday night while they investigated.

"There are no victims and there is no evidence of any shots being fired at this time," Goranitis added. "This is a very active scene and multiple units are investigating at this time."

Traffic in the area was heavy as shoppers made their way out of the mall, police say.

A video from inside the mall posted to Twitter showed shoppers running towards the parking lot. One person reported hearing "two different sets of loud bangs."
