Children's COVID-19 Vaccine Q&A via Zoom For Hillsborough Parents

Parents who have questions about their children getting Pfizer vaccines can ask during a Health Q&A session Wednesday evening via Zoom.

BLOOMINGDALE — RIVERVIEW, FL — If any parents are on the fence about having their child vaccinated at Friday and Saturday's free vaccination events offered at local schools, the Florida Department of Health is hosting a Zoom discussion Wednesday evening to address questions parents have about the vaccines.

The health department has partnered with with Hillsborough County Public School to host seven COVID-19 vaccination clinics for children ages 12 and older, including homeschooled or charter and private school kids. No appointments are required, officials said. Parents, guardians, caregivers and other family members are also welcome to get vaccinated at locations.

First doses of Pfizer will be administered Friday, June 11, 3-9 p.m., or Saturday, June 12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the following schools inside the gymnasium:

  • Strawberry Crest High School, 46901 Gallagher Road, Dover
  • Newsome High School, 16550 Fishhawk Blvd., Lithia
  • Gaither High School, 16200 N. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa
  • Middleton High School, 4801 North 22nd Street, Tampa
  • Robinson High School, 6311 S. Lois Ave., Tampa
  • Sickles High School, 7950 Gunn Hwy., Tampa
  • Wharton High School, 20150 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa

Second doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be given at the above locations July 1, 3-9 p.m., or July 2, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

"We are grateful that the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County continues to prioritize the health and safety of our students. These vaccine clinics are an opportunity for interested families to protect their children against the effects of COVID-19," Superintendent Addison Davis said. "

A parent or legal guardian is required to be with a minor during the vaccination process.

Local healthcare professionals will be available to answer parents' questions, Wednesday, June 9, starting at 6 p.m., and a Spanish speaking Zoom at 7:30 p.m.

To attend:

English Zoom - Wednesday from 6-7 p.m.

Spanish Zoom - Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
