Mobile Mammography With AdventHealth, YMCA Upcoming Events

VALRICO, FL — It might not sound like the most exciting thing to do, but if you're due for a mammogram, AdventHealth's Mobile Mammography has teamed up with the YMCA, and is coming to two locations near you with services for YMCA members and employees.

Why Should I Get A Mammogram?

• One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, according to AdventHealth. Early detection saves lives.

But Don't I Need A Referral From My Doctor?

• Women ages 40 and older do not need a referral for your mammogram at the mobile mammography. Women ages 35-39 will need a prescription from a physician.

I Need To Know More About This Mobile Mammography With Advent Health

• The mobile mammography is similar to the blood donation bus. AdventHealth said it is a leading provider of 3D mammography services for over 700 locations in Tampa and Sarasota. They operate muliple specialy buses equipped with Hologic 3D Mammography systems.

How Long Will This Take?

• According to AdventHealth, appointments can take as little as 10 minutes. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are preferred. You can schedule your appointment at mobile mammography.

How Do I Pay For This Service?

• Most major insurance carriers, including Medicare, (but not Medicaid), will pay 100 percent of their yearly 3D screening mammogram, the YMCA said. There is also a self-pay option of $155 for those without insurance.

When Is This Happening?

• The mammography bus will be at the YMCA, 3414 Culbreath Road, Valrico, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., June 7. After 11 a.m., it will drive to the YMCA, 9650 Old Big Bend Road, Riverview, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
