Riverview Will Get New AdventHealth Hospital At U.S. 301 Location

BLOOMINGDALE — RIVERVIEW, FL — By spring 2023, Riverview residents will have a short drive for medical care when a 209,000-square-foot hospital by AdventHealth opens, a news release said.

The medical company will break ground on the $216 million project in fall 2021. Eighty beds will be included at the location's first phase opening. Enough space will be constructed for the add-on of more than 200 beds as the need for healthcare grows in the Riverview area, officials said.

"We are excited to continue our growth strategy to meet the fast-growing needs of southern Hillsborough County," President and CEO Mike Schultz said.

Locals have a mix of thoughts and opinions about the future hospital's 23-acre lot at 9202 U.S. Highway 301 South. Many are concerned about traffic, while others are happy about nearby access to hospital services. According to Bokors Corner, a proposed traffic signal will be added at the U.S. 301 entrance of the facility.

"Another light and more traffic on 301," Albert Stephen Melendez commented on Bokors' Facebook page. "How about putting some overpasses on 301?"

Some locals think it will be good for the economy, but also believe the extra traffic will cause frustrations for drivers in the area.

"Gonna be an economic boom to the area, it will also add to the traffic nightmare," Mitul Gandhi posted.

Health care jobs will be an addition to the economy in south Hillsborough County. The hospital will provide emergency, cardiology, obstetrics, gynecology (labor and delivery), gastroenterology, orthopedic and urology services.
