Suspect In Riverview Double Homicide Captured In Michigan

A suspect accused of three murders in Hillsborough County faces multiple charges after he was arrested in Michigan.

BLOOMINGDALE-RIVERVIEW, FL — A triple homicide suspect who is accused of killing two Riverview victims and one Tampa victim was extradited to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office from Michigan on Monday, a police news release said.

Jerome James Knight, 19, is connected to a series of crimes that took place from December to January, authorities said. Investigators linked Knight to the killing of a victim that was found inside a car inside the parking lot at Progress Village Recreational Center, 8701 Progress Boulevard, on Dec. 22. The victim suffered from upper body trauma, deputies said.

On Jan. 21, two victims Knight is accused of killing were found just after midnight outside a Riverview business in the 100 block of Pelican Creek Circle. These victims also suffered from upper body trauma, according to authorities.

Knight was also accused of shooting into the front passenger side window of a person's car he had gotten into an argument with on Jan. 9 at the Circle K gas station, 11606 Balm Riverview Road. No one was injured.

The Romulus Police Department in Romulus, Michigan, arrested Knight on Feb. 6 on charges of aggravated assault and shooting into a vehicle.

“Despite Jerome Knight's attempts to flee rather than face the consequences for his violent crimes, our detectives were able to find him and bring him to justice with the help of additional law enforcement agencies," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “As his actions have shown, this is a very violent individual."

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Knight faces the following charges:

  • First degree murder with a firearm
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Shooting into a vehicle
  • Shooting into an occupied vehicle
  • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
