1000s Of Child Porn Images Found On Man's Phone: Hillsborough Sheriff

BRANDON, FL — A Brandon man faces charges after child pornography was found on his phone, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Detectives with the agency’s Internet Predator Unit received a tip on Dec. 27 that led them to the home of Filmon Hailu, 26.

They found numerous images of child sexual abuse material on his phone, the sheriff’s office said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hailu on Tuesday and he was arrested Thursday.

He was charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography, 10 or more images; seven counts of filming, distributing or possessing images or video of sexual activity with an animal; and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

"I am appalled and disgusted by this individual's despicable actions," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "It's so disheartening that our Internet Predator Unit has to dedicate their time day after day to investigating horrific crimes like these, but I am so proud of the work they do to keep our community safe from criminals that exploit children."
