The men tried to use fraudulent credit cards to buy the golf cart before driving away with it, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said

BRANDON, FL — Two men were arrested Monday for stealing a golf cart from a Brandon dealership, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Jarmal Lemus, 28, and Cleveland Perry, 31, were each charged with unauthorized use of a credit card and third-degree grand theft.
The suspects tried to buy a golf cart from Next Level Golf Carts on Bloomingdale Avenue around 2 p.m.

They used a credit card to pay nearly $8,000 for half of the purchase and then tried to use multiple credit cards to cover the remaining balance. All cards were reported as fraudulent by various credit card companies, the sheriff’s office said.
They told the dealership they would go to a bank to get money, but instead, they left the business with the golf cart and didn’t return.

Deputies found them about 15 miles away from the dealership, HCSO said.
"These suspects thought they could get away with not only using fraudulent credit cards but brazenly stealing from this business in the middle of the day," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "We won't stand for theft in our county. We won't tolerate this behavior, and we'll keep working hard to ensure the safety of the businesses within our community."
