2 Pedestrians Die, Another Injured In Brandon Crash

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with detectives, deputies said.

BRANDON, FL - Two pedestrians were killed and another injured Sunday night in a traffic crash at Providence Road, just north of Providence Ridge Boulevard in Brandon, Hillsborough County deputies said.

The pedestrians, who died at the scene, were identified as Tanaysha Troutman, 28, of Tampa and Victoria Patten , 33, of Brandon, deputies said. The third pedestrian, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was identified as Stephanie Jordan, 38, of Gibsonton. She was transported to Tampa General Hospital.

The pedestrians were standing outside their vehicles arguing at about 10:30 p.m. when all three walked into the southbound median travel lane of Providence Road and were struck by a 2005 Hyundai, which was traveling south at approximately 40 mph. The Hyundai was driven by Guillermo R. Ruiz, 22, of Wesley Chapel.

Ruiz had an odor of alcohol on his breath and admitted to having consumed beer earlier in the evening, deputies said. He submitted blood and charges are pending the toxicology report.
