BRANDON, FLA — A $4.3 million intersection improvement project in Brandon will not only allow for better traffic flow but will made the area safer for drivers and pedestrians, Hillsborough County officials announced this week.

Work at the intersection of North Valrico Road and Front Street will begin in early 2022 and will be completed late in the year, officials said. County officials are designing the project to comply with Vision Zero safety principles and to improve the capacity of cars that the intersection can handle, the county said in a news release Wednesday.

A study done showed that by installing a traffic signal at the intersection, dangerous conditions for cars entering Valrico Road from Front Street would be alleviated. The project will also add turn lanes at the intersection, which will improve traffic flow, county officials said.
