Bracelet Helps Deputies Find Missing Alzheimer's Patients: Sheriff

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Hillsborough County residents living with Alzheimer's, autism, dementia or other cognitive conditions have access to a new online tool that can help deputies find them if they go missing.

SafetyNet, a program the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office recently started using, provides users with a bracelet that is powered by radio frequencies, a sheriff's office news release said.

SafetyNet is a critical tool used to help locate customers should they go missing, law enforcement officials said.

The bracelet will provide law enforcement GPS information to quickly find the missing person. authorities said.

To make updates to the bracelet such as a new photo, a new device ID number, frequencies and other identifying information can be done online, deputies said.

Updates can be made at www.teamHCSO.com, and click on "Online Registration Services" under the "Services" tab.

SafetyNet is a lifesaving tool for those individuals who are known to wander away from home," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "It provides that physical reinforcement and critical information our deputies need to quickly locate someone who may be in harm's way. I encourage those who could benefit from SafetyNet to sign up for the program and then keep us updated on any important changes there may be in the future.
