'Cooking for a PINK Cause' Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month

When her husband, Earl, donned a chef's cap for "Cooking for a Cause II" at the Copper Bell Cafe in Brandon, Annabel Lennard sewed him an apron that read, "Will cook for tips."
Today, Oct. 3, Annabel Lennard herself will be behind the counter, joining two other women at the recently opened Copper Bell Cafe in Riverview, for a new fundraiser fashioned on the old, this time raising funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
"Cooking for a Pink Cause" features Lennard, wife of the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections and former Hillsborough County School District, cooking alongside Tanya Doran, executive director of the Riverview Chamber of Commerce, and Cindy Sofarelli, group vice president of the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA.

All proceeds and gratuities from all breakfast and lunch meals purchased throughout the day will be donated to Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, "in honor of Kathy Green and her wonderful medical team."
The cafe, at 11228 Boyette Road, is open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and dine-in and take-out meals are available. Free local delivery for the event is available compliments of TakeOutButler.com.

The featured meal for the "community leaders cooking for charity" is cheese-filled ravioli, with a creamy tomato sauce, served with strawberry feta salad, garlic pita bread and "The Pink Cookie." The cost is $12.
Noted as sponsors are Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar and the Tampa Electric Company (TECO).
The inaugural Cooking for a Cause, in 2010, featured celebrity community chefs Tammy Bracewell, president of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce; Earl Lennard, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections and former Hillsborough County School Superintendent; Tony Del Castillo, genral manager, St. Petersburg Brandon Times; Anne Nymark, co-founder of the Greater Brandon Community Foundation; and George T. May IV, former president of the Community Roundtable.
This year's Cooking for a Cause II again featured Bracewell, Lennard and Del Castillo, along with Richard Strehl, of the Greater Brandon Community Foundation; former state Senate President Tom Lee; and Melissa Snively, this year's Brandon chamber president.
This year's charities benefited Life Care of Brandon, the Greater Brandon Community Foundation, A Kid's Place, the YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club of Riverview and the Brandon Outreach Clinic.
