Cyclist Killed In Valrico Accident: FHP

VALRICO, FL — A 57-year-old cyclist was killed in a collision in Valrico Tuesday night, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brian Bentz, 57, of Valrico, was riding a bike south on St. Cloud Avenue around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, crossing SR-60, the release says.

Bentz's identity was withheld until his next of kin was notified.

A driver from Brandon, headed east on SR-60, crossed the intersection with a green light and hit Bentz, the release says. Bentz was not in a crosswalk.

Bentz was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities gave no indication of charges or infractions related to the crash.
