Fireworks Cut-Off Time Sparks Conversation

We asked on the boards and on Facebook if people keep their Independence Day parties going too late, long after others have went to bed.

Hearing fireworks throughout our neighborhoods is common place around the Fourth of July, but when does it go too far?

We asked on the boards and on Facebook if people keep their Independence Day parties going too late, long after others have went to bed. And, users responded with a flurry of comments.

Daniel Berkowitz suggested 10:00 p.m. as the cut-off time on weekday and midnight on the weekends. "And try to have a least one sober person in the group," he said.

Sheila Mainous said she thinks the cut-off should be earlier, at 10 p.m. "If they knew just how very scared my dog gets from them, maybe they would stop," she wrote.

A few more of you weighed in that 10 p.m. should be the latest for setting off fireworks in Brandon.

So, as the week goes on, and the price of fireworks drops after the holiday, maybe we can all agree to put them away at 10 p.m., and no later than midnight. And, wouldn't it be nice if everyone considered who has pets and kids living next door that may like a break even earlier?
