Help FHP Cruisers Speed To Victory In National Contest

The Florida Highway Patrol is stumping for votes to help its patrol vehicles speed to victory in the national Best Looking Cruiser contest.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol’s black-and-tan cruisers are up for national honors, but troopers need help to speed to victory. In order to earn the win in the fourth annual national “Best Looking Cruiser” contest, the agency needs folks across the state to vote for its entry on Facebook.

The contest is sponsored by the American Association of State Troopers “as a fun way to allow community support and interaction with law enforcement in a positive manner,” a contest announcement said. Last year, the Georgia State Patrol took the biggest vote tally. The West Virginia State Police cruiser came in second place.

All told, more than 220,000 people across the country voted in last year’s contest. The contest posts were shared more than 13,000 times on Facebook, organizers said.

The winner of this year’s contest will receive the “Best Looking Cruiser Award” and will also earn the cover spot in the association’s 2018 calendar. Proceeds from the sale of calendars benefit the foundation, which provides scholarships to dependents of its member troopers.

Voting in the contest is now open and will remain so until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14. As of Tuesday, Aug. 8, FHP’s cruiser had more than 4,000 votes, 152 shares and 75 comments. The tally put it quite behind last year’s winner. The Georgia State Patrol had already earned more than 22,000 votes, according to its Facebook entry.
