Man Killed By Amtrak Train Identified

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has identified the person struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Sunday.

SEFFNER, FL — As a Sunday crash involving an Amtrak passenger train and pedestrian remains under investigation, authorities have released the name of the man who died.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Richard Lee Hagg, 43, was struck and killed by a train as he was walking along tracks in the area of Highview Road Sunday night.

Authorities said the train, carrying 120 passengers, left the downtown Tampa station around 5:48 p.m. May 7. As the train moved eastbound near Highview Road, Haag was walking along the tracks.

“The conductor blew the horn on the train, but was unable to stop,” an email from the sheriff’s office said.

Haag was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported on the train.
