Man’s Body Recovered Near Courtney Campbell Causeway
The body of an Apollo Beach man was recovered Monday morning in water near the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
APOLLO BEACH, FL — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the death of a 61-year-old man from Apollo Beach.
According to the agency, the body of Jose Vazquez was pulled from shallow water south of the Courtney Campbell Causeway around 8 a.m. Monday.
The search for Vazquez began around 9 p.m. Aug. 20 when a boater found an unmanned personal watercraft near the causeway’s Hillsborough County side. That discovery kicked off an overnight search that was conducted by boat with air support.

Authorities do not yet know what caused the accident to occur. The death remains under investigation with FWC taking the lead.
