Pam Bondi Named To Donald Trump’s Transition Team: Reports

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will reportedly serve as a member of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team.

TAMPA, FL — As Donald Trump prepares to move into his new role as president, he’ll reportedly have at least one Floridian by his side. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has been named to the president-elect’s transition team, according to several media outlets.

News of Bondi’s appointment broke Friday afternoon, shortly after it was announced Vice President-elect Mike Pence will head up the team instead of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Despite the last-minute change of plans, Christie will reportedly still serve on the team and its vice-chair.

What role Bondi will play on the team remains unclear. The Tampa native became Florida’s 37th attorney general after winning her first election bid in November 2010. She took office in 2011.

The Republican campaigned on behalf of Trump during his run for the White House, making several rally appearances. She also formally endorsed his run even while fending off probes into Trump’s 2013 donation of $25,000 to a political action committee that backs her.

The possible makeup of Trump’s transition team was announced Nov. 11. As for the shuffling with Pence and Christie, Trump told advisers he wanted to tap Pence’s Washington experience and contacts to help move the process along, according to the New York Times report. Christie, along with Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, and Michael T. Flynn, a retired lieutenant general, will serve as vice chairs of the transition.
