Ruskin Drive-In Theater Moviegoers Will Continue To Enjoy Moonlit Shows: Report
The Ruskin Drive-In Movie owners were worried their almost 70-year-old business would have to close because of future nearby construction.
RUSKIN, FL — The Ruskin Drive-In Theater owners and some locals became concerned that their almost 70-year-old entertainment venue would come to a close when they heard a housing development would be built nearby possibly removing trees they planted years ago, WFTS reported.
John Freiwald, owner of the drive-in, told the outlet that visitors enjoy the ambiance, the moonlight and stars. He became concerned that if the project development company removed the trees along the eastern border–where they are planning to build homes–too much outside light would be allowed in and that would ruin the movie experience and the stargazing experience. They would be forced to close.
Alex Crespo, senior vice president of planning for Waldrop Engineering, recently told the TV station they understand that the Freiwalds are concerned about the noise and potential light coming from the house, and likewise they would find it difficult to sell homes next to something as noisy as a drive-in theater. They do not plan on removing the trees Freiwald initially feared they would.
