Deputies Find Gun In Gaither High School Student's Backpack: Sheriff
Deputies were executing a warrant for unrelated charges when they found a gun in a backpack belonging to a Gaither High student.

NORTHDALE, FL — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a high school student accused of bringing a gun to school.
According to a sheriff's news release, on Tuesday, deputies were executing a warrant for unrelated charges on a student at Gaither High School when they found a gun in a backpack belonging to Davon Jordon Latrel Smith, 18.
No threats were reported regarding the weapon, and Smith was arrested without incident, said the sheriff's office.

"We are grateful to the deputies who worked diligently and swiftly to arrest this individual, and made sure this weapon was removed from campus," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Now, this student will face additional felony charges because he brought a gun to school."
Smith was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm on school property.
