Home Invasion Suspects Shot by Resident, Deputies Say

Breaking: Hillsborough County deputies say two suspects in a home invasion were shot by the victim Saturday night.

TAMPA, FL — Two people were hospitalized Saturday night after a home invasion attempt took a violent turn.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call about a home invasion robbery in the 16000 block of Dew Drop Lane around 11:14 p.m. When they arrived, they found two people suffering from non-life threatening injuries and the resident who fired shots at them gone from the home.

Deputies say the two suspects drove from Miami to Tampa in a rental car. The two parked across from the home and kicked in the back door, an email from the sheriff’s office said.

The two suspects were armed with tasers, deputies say, but the man inside the home had a gun. When an argument broke out, the resident fired shots and then left the scene, the email said.

The two suspects were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, the email said.

Deputies say the two suspects are being uncooperative. The resident has not yet been located.

The suspects have been identified as Leanys Rodriguez-Charon, 27, and Carlos Anthony Rodriguez, 28.
