Man Steals $1,500 Worth of Lottery Tickets Then Cashes Them In

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify a man who stole and then cashed in winning lottery tickets.

CARROLLWOOD, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify a man who stole and then cashed in winning lottery tickets.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Monday, June 14, a man entered the Thornton's gas station at 4103 Gunn Highway and stole two packs of lottery tickets. He then went to several convenience stores throughout the Tampa and Brandon area, and cashed in the winning tickets.

'"This man stole more than $1,500 in lottery tickets and cigarettes and mistakenly thought he was going to get away with it," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "His actions have serious consequences and our detectives are working to locate and arrest this man."

The man was driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck with a silver vertical stripe on the passenger rear side of the vehicle.

Anyone who has any information on the case or who has seen the man is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
